Lady Bunny To Save Kentucky Fried Chickens
Lady Bunny has joined with PETA to protest KFC's treatment of chickens, according to the organization's blog.
The nightlife Queen appears on a billboard at the intersection of Varick and Houston streets showing Ms. Bunny holding a bucket of KFC with the printed lettering, "Sometimes Big Bright Packages Contain Dirty Little Secrets."
On her website, Ms. Bunny writes, "I've always wanted to see my mug on a billboard—at least my fat country ass ain't selling KFC!"
"I didn't quite understand the slogan 'Sometimes Big Bright Packages Contain Dirty Secrets,'" she continues. "But I guess it's either a reference to the fact that I have cooties under my wig or that a have a dirty little penis which I'm concealing. (Both are true.)"
Ms. Bunny joins Pamela Anderson and Al Sharpton in supporting the campaign, "Kentucky Fried Cruelty."

PETA Sends Olsens a Birthday Gift
Last year, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) created a website called Meet the Trollsen Twins, featuring zombie-like renderings of the child actresses-turned-media moguls whom they nicknamed "Hairy-Kate" and "Trashley Trollsen." Users were encouraged to dress them in bloodied articles of fur clothing. The site's tagline said it all: "Fur coats are worn by beautiful animals and ugly people." read more »
The Little Lady Who Fears Nobody—Not Even Karl Lagerfeld!
PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has no time for ‘old fogys’ who use fur. ‘The young designers are great!’ read more »
Is Barbaro the Poster Pony for Animal Rights?
Check out PETA's website, which has a section on racehorses that includes the following:
Racing to the Grave Horses begin training or are already racing when their skeletal system is still growing and unprepared to handle the pressures of running on a hard track at high speeds.(5) Improved medical treatment and technological advancements have done little to remedy the plight of the racehorse. One study on injuries at racetracks concluded that one horse in every 22 races suffered an injury that prevented him or her from finishing a race, while another estimates that 800 thoroughbreds die a year in North America because of injuries
Thursday Styles with Tom Scocca
The first in a series of what will surely become a regular feature. Ladies and gentlemen, a peek inside office life with Mr. Tom Scocca, the New York Observer's Off The Record columnist. At right: Mr. Scocca's desk, in a photograph taken just now, while he was in a meeting.
MediaTom: Did you read Thursday Styles?
TheTransom: Ooo, I forgot! So exciting! I love Thursdays!
MediaTom: So far there are two amazing things, of which I've read only one. The one I haven't read yet is "She's So Cool, So Smart, So Beautiful: Must Be A Girl Crush."
TheTransom: Jeudsadfo4wljsesuwhst
MediaTom: (Coming soon: Out for Drinks With Two Buddies: The Asexual Menage A Trois.)
TheTransom: Totally. Hot.
MediaTom: ANY INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE PEOPLE RESEMBLES ANY SEXUAL INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE PEOPLE ONLY WITHOUT THE SEX PART.
TheTransom: My God. It's endless. Apparently ‘man dates' was just a warning shot.
MediaTom: The one story that I did read was: The Lamb on the Runway: Will customers still love astrakhan when they learn where this fur comes from?
MediaTom: Because, see, it comes from NEWBORN -- OR EVEN UNBORN -- LAMBS!
MediaTom: UNBORN BABY LAMBS!!!!!!!!
MediaTom: And they run around failing to find any outrage over this.
TheTransom: That is truly awesome.
MediaTom: Maybe people will become outraged if they learn. Because they seem to be confusing PETA with Operation Rescue.
TheTransom: Does PETA still exist? Is it just Pam Anderson and her assistant now?
MediaTom: Check it out: "That's just a little too much," said the designer Carmen Marc Valvo, explaining why he draws the line at using fetal lambs, although he has designed a $10,000 riding coat for Saks made of swakara, a trade name for karakul farmed in Namibia. "I have no problem working with furs," he said, "but the furs we use are baby lambs that are also raised for food. It's not like the indiscriminate killing of animals."
MediaTom: Then:
MediaTom: Mr. Valvo's recognition of a moral distinction between types of astrakhan is atypical in the fashion industry. Most designers working with the fur expressed no compunction about using the skins of unborn lambs or those a few days old, if indeed they understand the fur's exact origins.
MediaTom: WHAT THE FUCK? read more »
