Independence Party Candidate Interviews Rescheduled
The Independence Party interviews for congressional candidates eyeing Vito Fossella’s seat were supposed to take place last night, but got postponed because of what one organizer called a “logistical problem.”
That organizer, Frank Morano, a member of the party’s state executive committee, said the interviews have been rescheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, at Killmeyer’s Old Bavaria Inn, at 4254 Arthur Kill Road on Staten Island. read more »
Independence Parties
Mark your calendars: the state Independence Party is getting together, apart.
A week from Monday, the New York County chapter of the party, which is closely associated with Lenora Fulani, will have its annual fund-raiser at the Woolworth Kitchen Tower.
Tomorrow, a rival, Staten Island-based faction will hold an event to present awards to Councilman Vinny Ignizio, Assemblywoman Janele Hyer-Spencer and Village Voice writer Tom Robbins.
It’s safe to say whoever shows up to one probably won’t show up to the other. But it's nice to know that party infighting isn't putting a damper on the social schedule.
Talkin' Terms
Next Monday, Nov. 28th, Gale Brewer, Bill Perkins, and other voices in the term-limits debate (see below) will tackle your questions, and each other, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LGBT Community Services Center on 208 W. 13th Street.
Seriously, this panel should be excellent, and The Politicker hopes to be there barring deadline purgatory.
Here's the list of panelists: Councilmember Gale Brewer, sponsor of legislation to extend term-limits Councilmember Bill Perkins, critic of term limits Dick Dadey, Executive Director of Citizens Union Harry Kresky, Esq.
