Today at the Tribeca Film Festival: Lou Reed's Berlin; Leighton Meester Horror-Show

Everywhere at Once, Village East Cinema, 1:15 p.m.

can’t help but think that inspiration for Everywhere at Once must have been born during a late-night heavy-talking/drinking session…in this film photographer Peter Lindbergh and “experimental filmmaker” (uh-oh) Holly Fisher collaborated to “weave together a tapestry of images” using Mr. Lindbergh’s photographs and clips from the 1966 Tony Richardson film Mademoiselle starring Jeanne Moreau. Ms. Moreau narrates using a poem by Kimiko Hahn. Got it?

Donkey in Lahore, Village East Cinema, 3:45 p.m.

How can you resist a movie with this good a title? This documentary follows Brian, a “master puppeteer happily immersed in the Brisbane, Australia goth scene” who falls head over heels for a young Muslim woman from a traditional family in Pakistan. He then decides to convert to Islam (his name changes to Aamir) and the film chronicles his struggles to win Amber’s family over, and eventually, Amber herself.

Lou Reed’s Berlin, Pace University, 8:30 p.m.

Julian Schnabel has shown up already in two other Tribeca Film Festival Movies (Hotel Gramercy Park and Guest of Cindy Sherman) and now is behind the camera for this one. Lou Reed’s Berlin album wasn’t so appreciated in 1973 when it was released, and was largely left to obscurity (though you can see a snatch of live footage from the original tour above!). In 2006, over the course of five nights, Mr. Schnabel captured Berlin played live for the first time at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. Mr. Schnabel used his Diving Bell and the Butterly actress, Emmanuelle Seigner, to play the album’s central character.

The Chicken, the Fish, and the King Crab, AMC Village VII, 9:30 p.m.

Forget about Top Chef. The Bocuse d’Or competition in Lyon, France is the World Cup of cooking, founded by legendary chef Paul Bocuse. 24 chefs from around the world are brought in to compete – they each have five-and-a-half hours to prepare 12 portions of two meals. The director, José Luis López-Linares, cuts from the kitchen to food education (the difference between the king crab’s killing and eating claws, why French people love chicken, etc.), focusing most of his attention on the drama of the Spanish chef, trying desperately to overcome Spain’s long stretch of losses.

Killer Movie, AMC Village VII , 9:45 p.m.

OMFG! Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester shows up in this campy, satirical horror movie, about a young reality-show director sent by his agent to North Dakota, where “the townfolk” keep mysteriously disappearing. All the horror movie clichés are brought tongue-in-cheek to the table: is it the gruff hockey coach or the old Bible-toting backwoodsman? Director Jeff Fisher worked on The Simple Life and the Real World/Road Rules Challenge so you know he must have a lot of dark, dark thoughts.
