Recchia Drops Congressional Bid

Democratic City Councilman Domenic Recchia of Brooklyn just announced he is dropping out of the race for Vito Fossella's congressional seat.

Staten Island Democrats recently endorsed another candidate, City Councilman Mike McMahon. Although the district lies partly in Brooklyn, Staten Island residents are a majority.

In the release, Recchia says he thinks Democrats should be "united as a party" to win the seat, currently held by a Republican.

Attorney Steve Harrison, who ran against Fossella in 2006, has not changed his plans.

Recchia did not say what he will do with the money (more than $300,000 ) he raised.

Thank God he finally dropped out, the peoples prayers have been answered. What a looooser he is. What will he do with the $300,000 he raised? He may pay his wife some more rent.. he already paid her $ 6000.00 for an office in his house. What a poltician. The cream of the crop. Good riddance, Mr. Recchia. I wonder how it felt, Mr. Recchia being thrown under the bus by Mr. Lopez. The way you treated other politicians & constituents you deserved it. As the great soul singer James Brown sung " I feel good!."

Recchia wasnt thrown under abus by Lopez, he was thrown under the bus by McMahon. McMahon recruited him for the race and the pushed him our when it became easier to win. As for Rechhia, he's easily the frontrunner for Brooklyn Boro President.
